Audiobook Horoscopes for the Autumnal Equinox

By Erin Murphy

We’ve done it: we survived a nearly catastrophic Mercury Retrograde (or was it just those of us with Gemini placements that were sent spiraling?) and are thisclose to making it through eclipse season. There have been so many feelings, revelations, and mishaps. We all desperately require some balance, and we can thank our dear Autumnal Equinox for showing up right on time.

The Autumnal Equinox says ritual, maybe more than any of the other seasonal changes. Perhaps it’s because everything witchy seems rooted in ceremony, or because fall brings with it so many opportunities for season-specific activities and themes, all shrouded in coziness.

I encourage you to make audiobooks a part of your rituals: listen while you cook or go on walks amongst the changing trees, or use them to learn something new. Repetition makes ritual. And doesn’t that just sound grounding?

See what the stars have in store for you this season with horoscopes and audiobooks for your zodiac sign:

Virgo

We’ve been grooving with Virgo. Happy belated, you star, I hope you’ve enjoyed your season with an expertly themed birthday celebration! There’s no point in putting it lightly, it’s all about the Benjamin’s for you right now. Whether you’re saving up for something specific, like a getaway when the winter blues start to set in, or just feel the need to build a little cushion, money’s on your mind. Think about the most realistic way to achieve your goals: is it simply cutting back on pasta dinners out? Or is it time to advocate for a raise? The beautiful thing about you, Virgo, is that you’re not going to sugarcoat. Even with yourself. Get after it.

Libra

Happy birthday, leeb! The great equalizer that you are, this equinox is your time to shine. Personally, I think there’s no better time than a birthday (especially one that comes during the time of year when the veil is thin) for some introspection. Use this time when you’re the universe’s magnet to take stock of your last year and identify what you’d like to prioritize for this year. If you’re having trouble with the latter, tap in to magic a bit to help you decide. All I’m saying is that single tarot card pulls or aura photographs can be illuminating.

Scorpio

You’ve started the fire beneath your cauldron, you’re practicing eviscerating lingering humidity with your mind–you are so ready for fall it’s crazy. You’re going to have to be patient while we hang with Libra for a little while. Take this time to rest, recharge, and get your autumnal ducks in a row. Looking ahead, you’re going to enter into your season ablaze, so get that downtime while you can. But it doesn’t mean go full hermit: spend this time getting lost in new fictional worlds, or learning something about this one. You can even invite friends along and get lost together.

Sagittarius

This fall, you and your home are about to be the hearth for your beloveds. You’re always all about your friendships, but this season it’s much more in a heart-swelling-intimate way than an under-the-disco-ball way (but don’t write off beautiful moments on the dance floor, they happen all the time). It’s not often you’re wanting everyone to get close, closer, closest, so embrace it before you’re off to the races again. Host dinner parties with friends from different groups, treat your buddies to “just because” flowers, and hug with abandon.

Capricorn

A Capricorn sinking themselves into work? Surprise, surprise. You’re the reset champ: whether it’s the New Year in your season or the back-to-school vibes of the fall, you’ll take any opportunity to refresh and dive into your passions headfirst with the strength of 100 horses. I have no career advice for you (you’ve got that covered), but might I suggest bringing your pals into this season’s projects? Start a band, start a salon series, start a cookbook club. You’ve gotta work, but you don’t gotta work alone.

Aquarius

My cherished Aqua, known for being the odd duck of the zodiac. You’ve been in your routines all summer long to fight off the dog days malaise, but it’s time for you to shake things up in a big way. In a way that only your unique brain could think of. You need a trip to a castle in the middle of nowhere, or a new hobby that you make up and decide to take on by yourself. As far as I know, there are no walking in cemetery classes (though if there are, please do let me know). You remain the coolest–it’s time to remind yourself of that.

Pisces

You are alllll up in your feelings, little fish! That’s not necessarily headline news or anything (you stay tuned in to your emotions), but right now your biggest comforts are found within the walls of your home. You are feeling very held in your sanctuary, and it’s going to take a lot for you to open the door. The great news is: you get to choose exactly who gets to come inside, take their shoes off, and smell your expensive new candle. Anyone less than extraordinary simply won’t do.

Aries

It’s tiiiiime! For the buddy system. These late summer days have left you plenty of time for introspection, and you know exactly what it is you want to work on mind, body, and spirit. That said, you’re a social creature. So why not feed two birds with one scone and accomplish some self-care goals with an accountability pal? Pick your bossiest (I mean, er, most disciplined) friend to make sure you’re getting your daily steps in, eating enough protein, and saying the tough things out loud. Then do the exact same for them.

You should listen to: Here We Go by Eleanor Hamby and Dr. Sandra Hazelip

Taurus

Stay in those streets, bully buddy. You’re going to have to wait for the winter solstice to hunker down in the homebody fashion you’re accustomed to, because it seems like everybody wants a piece of Taurus these days. That said, it is Libra season after all, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t suggest that your key to getting through it all will be balance. Reserve one night a week that’s just for you: cook something delicious, kick your hooves up, and turn on the audiobook or tv show that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Those other 6 days? No problem.

You should listen to: A Murder for Miss Hortense by Mel Pennant

Gemini

Fall in love again and again! Summer flings get all the attention, but it’s now that you’re feeling all things romantic. The mood is buoyant, it’s playful, it’s light: you have the same energy as leaves gliding on the wind and falling into the grass when trying and failing to do a cartwheel. Your aura is irresistible right now. I have no doubt there will be someone ready to jump on the trampoline with you any minute.

You should listen to: Middle Spoon by Alejandro Varela

Cancer

A surprise, you summer babe, but you’re the one who’s feeling extremely ritualistic with the changing of the seasons. You’re making altars, you’re hanging up seasonal garlands, you’re making sure your largest pot is cleansed and ready for a season of soup. In addition to your home space feeling juuuust right, make sure your inner space is too. Flickering taper candles can help, but they’re no replacement for regulated emotions.

You should listen to: The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad

Leo

Hello, cubby! I trust you enjoyed your season? You’ve still got a little of that late summer glow lingering on you–like a tan that hasn’t faded yet or one last 80 degree afternoon in late September. This is the perfect time for you to take stock of the people who surround you: in work, in life, in neighborhood. Why now? If you feel like something is amiss, you have your SPF sparkle to help make meeting new people and making new opportunities for yourself a breeze. You deserve to have the life of your dreams. Get out there, and then sit back on your haunches feeling confident that you’ve made something good.
